MAHA ROSE SOUTH LOGISTICS AND FAQ’S

Getting Here:

Closest airports: Huatulco (HUX) or Puerto Escondido (PXM), both are about an hour away.

Getting to Mazunte: Please tell us when you will be arriving: flight arrival date, time and airline. We will arrange for a private car to pick you up from the airport and bring you back to El Triángulo. The cost is around 1000 pesos. The price is per vehicle, not per person, so if multiple people are arriving at the same time you may share the car. You will need cash to pay the driver. Tip is included.

We will also arrange for your return car from the retreat center back to the airport. The cost is also around 1000 pesos.

Your destination is El Triángulo, in Mazunte.  If you have a travel plan your phone will work at the airport and once you get to Mazunte, but not in between on the highway. It’s about an hour drive. Please see the map below.

You must exchange cash before leaving the airport in Mexico City, or before leaving your own country. The ATM here is often out of money. There is an ATM at the Huatulco airport but it is in the departures area. You can go there through the outside of the airport and it is a short walk, less than four minutes.

Please be sure your passport has at least six months before it expires:

“Most countries will not permit a traveler to enter their country unless the passport is set to expire at least six months after the final day of travel. That means if your passport has less than six months remaining until the expiration date, you should renew it right away.” – Fastpassport.com

Arrival Time: Room check-in is at 3pm and the first activity will be an opening dinner and circle at 6:30pm.

Departure: The final activity of your retreat will be held on the last day. Breakfast and a closing circle. Most retreats finish around 1pm.

Early Arrivals & Extended Stays: We recommend coming a few days early and staying beyond the retreat if you are able.  Please reach out if you would like to book extra nights before or after your retreat with us.

There are many other charming Airbnbs, hotels, and hostels in Mazunte and the surrounding areas.

What to Bring:

  • Clothing: come prepared for hot tropical weather, i.e. sarongs & light, loose, flowing clothing

  • Sandals/flip flops & good shoes for walking, water shoes optional.

  • Sunglasses & hats for shade

  • Bathing suit & beach towel

  • Bug repellent: this is the tropics, mosquitos are fierce and mosquito-born illnesses: Chikengunya, Zika and Dengue are a reality. We like bug spray or cream with Picaridin. It’s more effective than the natural repellents but less toxic than deet. Please use especially in the morning and evenings and keep yourself well tucked into your mosquito netting at night. If there is a gap in the netting they will find it.

  • Pesos, best to exchange dollars into pesos in the Mexico City airport. The ATM here often runs out of money. and credit cards are not readily accepted.

  • Sunscreen

  • Flashlight

  • Water bottle (to use and refill)

  • A journal and something to write with

  • Earplugs if you are sound sensitive

We will provide yoga mats and props for your practice, no need to bring those.

International Phone Service

  • Please get in touch with your service provider if you would like to have phone service in Mexico.

Notes about Traveling:

San Agustinillo and Mazunte are neighboring villages with very friendly communities, however you are in a foreign country. Please keep valuables to a minimum and always lock them up in your rooms.

We provide purified water for you to fill your water bottle with. When you are out, note that all ice is made of purified water and when at restaurants drink bottled water only.

The sun is extremely strong, especially between 10am-4pm. Please come prepared and be cautious as you enjoy.

The Pacific Ocean is fantastic, as well as wild. Be careful when venturing into the ocean and it is best practice to swim with a friend. Some of the surrounding areas have very strong currents, if you are warned of this, please listen! Safety first.

Do not swim at Playa Mermejita. It is too dangerous.

Intoxicants:

  • Please abstain from using intoxicants during your retreat.
